  • (2019•山东模拟) Film director James Cameron first became interested in sea exploration when he was a little boy.His love for the ocean grew after he made the 1989 undersea adventure film The Abyss and the 1997 blockbuster Titanic,one of the most successful movies of all time.Following that big success,James Cameron decided to put his film career on hold to become an explorer.

James Cameron's Deepsea Challenger 3 D tells the story of Cameron's journey.It is a film about determination,danger and the ocean's greatest depths.The movie shows a unique insight into Cameron's world when he makes his dream a reality and makes history by becoming the first person to travel alone to the deepest point on the planet.

  • (2016秋•南岗区校级期末) You may think that sailing is a difficult sport,but it is really not hard to learn it.You do not need to be strong.But you need to be quick.And you need to understand a few basic rules about the wind.
First,you must ask yourself,"Where is the wind coming from?Is it coming from ahead or behind or from the side?"You must think about this all the time on the boat.The wind direction tells you what to do with the sail(帆).
Let's start with the wind blowing from the behind.This means the wind and the boat are going in the same direction.Then you must always keep the sail outside the boat.It should be at a 90° angle(角度) to the boat.Then it will catch the wind best.
If the wind is blowing from the side,it is blowing across the boat.In this case,you must keep the sail half way outside the boat.It should be at a 45° angle to the boat.It needs to be out far enough to catch the wind,but it shouldn't flap(摆动).It shouldn't look like on a flagpole.If it is flapping,it is probably out too far,and the boat will slow down.
Sailing into the wind is not possible.If you try,the sail will flap and the boat will stop.You may want to go in that direction.It is possible,but you can't go in a straight line.You must go first in one direction and then in another.This is called tacking.When you are tacking,you must always keep the sail inside the boat.

(1)What should you consider first while sailing?

    A.Sailors'strength.
    B.Wave levels.
    C.Wind directions.
    D.Size of sails.

    A.The boat.
    B.The wind.
    C.The sail.
    D.The angle.
(3)What do you have to do when sailing against the wind?

    A.Move in a straight line.
    B.Allow the sail to flap.
    C.Lower the sail.
    D.Tack the boat.
(4)Where can you probably find the text?

    A.In a popular magazine.
    B.In a tourist guidebook.
    C.In a physics textbook.
    D.In an official report.

  • It is a hot summer day,and you feel thirsty. A friend gives you a glass of cold lemonade.How do you feel when you see the glass? Will you describe your feeling as happiness or as pleasure? I believe you will say it is a feeling of pleasure.There is a connection between these two kinds of feelings,and sometimes one causes the other,but they are not the same.Pleasure is more dependent on the five senses while happiness is independent of them.
When you are happy,little unpleasant events usually do not disturb you.When you are unhappy,you feel as if everything is against you.You may compensate for it by eating chocolate and sweets because this gives you pleasure. Yet you stay unhappy.A person may smoke cigarettes because it gives him pleasure. Yet,this does not make him happier,especially if he knows the fact that it is not good for his health.
The physical world is always in a changing state.At each moment a new thing is being created,changed,transformed and then destroyed.This is the normal state of things and no one can change it.If we stay still in a certain state,we are sure to experience unhappiness sooner or later.On the other hand,if we adjust to(适应) the environment,nothing can influence our moods(情绪).Then outer events have nothing to do with our inner joy of mind.
The room of the mind was filled with worry or fear.If you are free of thinking about them, the room has been emptied,and then you will see what is happening and experience it. When your mind stays quiet,you will see that happiness comes from the inside.

(1)What does the underlined phrase "compensate for" in Paragraph 2 most probably mean?

B.To let out your anger for.
C.To provide with a balancing effect for.
    D.To solve the problems for.
(2)According to the passage, in which of the following situations can you feel happy?

A.A friend gives you a glass of cold lemonade when you feel thirsty.

C.Smoke cigarettes even though you know the fact that it is not good for your health.
D.You are free from worry or fear when your mind stays quiet.
(3)We can learn from the passage that

A.happiness is more dependent on the five senses
    B.pleasure sometimes brings happiness
C.you feel happy when nothing around you changes in a certain state
D.you feel unhappy because you have to adjust to the environment
