  • (2019秋•双台子区校级月考) The Internet has become part of teenage life. There's a report on 3,375 students aged from 10 to 18 in seven Chinese cities. It says that 38 percent of them believe they use the Internet often. While most of them get useful information and use the Internet to help in their studies, some are not using it in a good way. Many are playing online games too much. A few even visit websites they should not look at. Bad things can happen if young people spend too much time on the Internet.
In order to help young people use the Internet in a good way, a textbook on good Internet behavior has started to be used in some Shanghai middle schools this term. It uses real examples to teach students all about good ways of using the Internet. It gives useful advice such as it's good to read news or find helpful information to study. Some students also make online friends. But if you are meeting a friend offline, let your parents know.
Teachers and parents all think the book is a good idea. It will teach students how to be a good person in the online world. It will be a guide for teens to use the Internet and keep students away from bad sites.

    C. To learn how to use computer.
    D. To watch movies.
(3)Why do teachers and parents think the book is a good idea?

    A. Because it helps with the students' studies.

    C. Because it teaches students how to use the Internet in a good way.
    D. Because it gives students useful advice.
(4)What is the writer's attitude towards the Internet?

  • (2018春•皇姑区校级期中) 菁优网    Alida Monaco doesn't spend her summers doing the usual teenage work, like working at the mall. Instead, she's studying.
It used to be that a summer job was considered a teenage thing. Today, Monaco, who has never had a summer job, is part of growing trend(趋势) teenagers concentrating on their studies, even during the summer. That's down from 72% of Americans aged 16 to 19 who worked in July of 1978, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Increased competition, older workers returning to the workforce and weak economic growth are all contributing to the decline of teenagers in the workforce. But as schoolwork grows increasingly intense and homework eats up more time, data suggest the biggest reason why some teens won't be working this summer is that they simply don't have time.
For college-bound teens, some teachers even advise students not to waste time on a summer job. "Some of my students only have about six weeks off in the summer," said Shannon Reed, a lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh and a former high school English teacher. "I could never advise that they get jobs during that short break. They should rest."
Young people who don't work may miss out on valuable skills that they'll need later in life. Early work experiences teach reliability, financial intelligence, self-control and help people learn to deal with adult situations. But Monaco, who plans to attend Harvard, isn't fazed by her lack of work experience. "Maybe I have missed out on a couple of life skills," she said. "But I don't think it will harm me in any way."

(1)What is the trend of American teenagers?

    A.They are becoming lazy.
B.They are becoming keen on doing holiday jobs.
C.They are focusing more on studies than on jobs.
D.They are becoming particular about holiday jobs.
(2)What is the third paragraph mainly about?

    A.The fierce competition teenagers face.
    B.The structure of America's workforce.
C.The reasons for teenagers quitting work.
D.The effects of America's economic decline.
(3)What's Shannon Reed's attitude towards the new trend?

    A. Uncaring
    B. Favorable
    C. Worried
    D. Doubtful
(4)What does the underlined word "fazed" in the last paragraph mean?

  • Teenagers who spend hours in front of the television may have a poorer diet(日常饮食) as young adults.
A study, which included nearly 1,400 high school students, found those who watched TV for five hours or more per day had less healthy diets than peers(同龄人) five years later. Why does this happen? Should the parents take any measures?
On the one hand, people who spend a lot of time in front of the TV,especially teenagers, may snack more, and that may influence their long-term diet quality. On the other hand, TV ads for fast food, sweets and snacks tempt teenagers to eat more of those foods. And TV time might also replace exercise time for some kids.
Lead researcher Dr. Daheia J. Barr-Anderson, of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, told Reuters Health a clear relationship between TV time during high school and diet quality in young adulthood.While the heaviest TV viewers were eating the most junk food, those who'd watched less than two hours per day had the highest intake(摄入量)of fruits,vegetables, wholegrains and high-calcium food. In her opinion,parents should limit and monitor TV viewing.
As far as I am concerned, children should watch not more than two hours of television per day. And parents should set a good example by eating right, being physically active and controlling their own TV time.

    C. Eat less junk food.
    D. Eat more fruits.
(3)What should the parents do according to the text?
